First time watchers, however, should probably stick with the TV version before viewing this. This is perfect for those who sort of want to rematch Clannad, but want a shorter method of doing so. Though it wasn’t as good as the original, it definitely had its better points (comedy) as well as bringing me back to the time when I watched it. This aspect was something that was done nicely. Rihito is what you would call an intelligent student. The film follows Rihito Sajou and Hiraku Kusakabe, two people with conflicting personalities and very few common interests. It wasn’t as catchy but it still worked for its purpose. Doukyuusei (2016) ‘Doukyuusei’ is one of the best romance anime movies that has ever been made. The dango song, sadly, was different from the TV version. It gave me a sense of nostalgia listening to it. Music wise, I recognized a lot of the background tracks from the VN present in this. before watching Clannad After story be sure to watch Clannad from the beginning as Clannad (first series is all about the character building which makes the second series more rewarding 16 out of 17 found this helpful. However most of the time the animation is smooth and flows nicely. This was a point that I sort of disliked, as I couldn’t get used to it. The animation at times is choppy and has areas where they simply have a still image (Glasslip like). Though it isn’t bad, it was still jarring for me as I expected the same style as the TV version. I personally found it atrocious, and would not recommend watching it regardless of how much you liked the series. The art is not as sharp, with more of a olden style feel. Basically gonna be the order give or take people add in the movie, which is an 80 minute movie that combines Clannad and After Story a bit, though deviating on quite a few things. The movie essentially tried to cram all the events from Clannad and After Story into a short 2 hours. Most of these characters are in line with the TV version, but Sunohara and Nagisa’s father, Akio are particularly more exaggerated in their actions.įor the animation and artwork, there is a distinct difference from the TV version. The movie is an adaptation, not a continuation. Seriously, I can’t even deal with the amount of derp sometimes. We had a sense of his values and his change from a trouble maker to someone productive. Personally I felt as if they did quite a good job portraying his character in the short amount of time. Tomoya is a person who acts aloof and has a host of problems, but through time with Nagisa he begins to change. With their personalities, problems and how they act, we can often feel a sense of connection to them. The characters are what makes Clannad so special for a lot of people. For those who already know about Clannad, the differences are mainly the interactions, Sunohara’s character and Ibuki-sensei. I’m not going to say more as this will ruin the experience for you. The main themes that this focuses on is the idea of family and loss. This version of the story is very comedic, as opposed to the more serious tones of the TV one. The story focuses on Okazaki Tomoya and Furukawa Nagisa, about their life in high school and then later beyond that. Yet at the same time it manages to convey the themes in a similar fashion as the TV one.Ĭlannad the Movie is very much Clannad with some slightly different aspects. I have to say, this version feels a lot… derpier than the original. But you may still choose to give it a go for the sake of watching the entire series, including the anime and movies based on the novel's storyline. So I decided to hit up Clannad again, this time as a movie. The reason is that this series doesn't add much to the storyline. Many fans even recommend not watching the 2006 anime adaptation. That might reduce the overall thrill of exploring the different characters' dark secrets in these two series. One of the reasons why fans urge everyone to watch Zero after finishing the entire series is it contains major spoilers for Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel. The order that provides the best experience of watching Fate starts with Unlimited Blade Works, followed by Heaven's Feel, and then Zero. It's the prequel of the entire series and is meant to be seen after watching the original series. But if you want to watch the series according to most fans' preference, you shouldn't watch Fate/Zero first. However, the chronological order is more accessible right now than this order as you can only watch two of the three movies in the trilogy.
